Preparations are well underway for Remembrance Day, on Tuesday 11th November
This national ceremonial day offers a chance for our Sub Branch to engage with the local community. Victoria Park Sub-branch volunteers will be fundraising for Poppy Day at the Perth 4WD and Adventure Show at McCullum Park this Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th November. On Remembrance Day, Tuesday 11th November, our Sub-branch will also be fundraising in Perth CBD. We are looking forward to a generous show of support from the community in this major fundraising event of the year, which supports former and current servicemen and women and their dependents when in need.
New flyer design
We’ve revamped our Wear a Poppy flyer to include information about our Living History and Memorial Wall projects.
You can of course find out more about the use of the poppy as a symbol by the RSL on this page.
Handmade poppies
We have just received some donated poppies from around the area. Note the little poem that one of the Probus ladies has written.
These poppies are being used for our ANZAC Memorial Wall in April 2015 as part of our remembrance to those who served.
We started this project 12 months ago as an adjunct to the 5000 poppies project. We are doing the red with black centre poppies only.
A huge thank you to:
- Victoria Park Probus Ladies
- Rowethorpe Ladies
- Maria O’Connor
- Ladies from Bentley Park
If you can make some for us please contact the Sub Branch. Let us know if you’d like a pattern.
